With gyms closed or operating at limited capacities, many new climbers are venturing outside for the first time\u2014which is amazing to see\u2014but the record numbers are taking a toll on the environment. In the United States, popular crags and bouldering areas simply can\u2019t handle the masses. We\u2019re loving our climbing areas to death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Access is not a given\u2014and we often take it granted. Chris Winter, executive director of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessfund.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Access Fund<\/a>, is tasked with the challenging job of protecting America\u2019s climbing.
